Never Too Busy

Mike Ferrante

Passage: Luke 18:31-43

Prayer: Lord, in your glory, the cross was set before you like a flint.  You knew the world was about to be lunged onto your shoulders, and the sin of us all would be vanquished.  You hinted at the great act of grace that was coming, yet it always fell on deaf ears.  In our feebleness, we were unable to understand the grandiose nature of your mercy that was prepared from the dawn of time to be unleashed on humanity.  With that kind of project in our viewpoint, our finite nature would never have been able to focus on anything else.  The fear would have paralyzed us.  The conviction would have kept us from eating and starved us.  The pressure would have made us run.  Not you, Jesus; you kept your eyes focused on the prize of glory that came in the cross.  You showed your power of omniscience in that moment.  With all that you were about to accomplish, you still knelt down to a blind man on the roadside.  You did not pass him by, thinking you had bigger more important priorities.  No, you healed him that day. You healed him and showed the world how much your compassion spills out from who you are: Healer, Savior, Shepherd, and Friend.  Thank You, Christ Jesus…Amen.

Ponder: Where do your priorities lie today?  Are the small details of the “least of these” being overshadowed by the bigger accomplishments you are trying to gain?
